Surviving Holiday Overwhelm and a Reflective Team Exercise

For most, the holidays are more stressful than joyful.

A time of year for celebration, togetherness, and giving becomes replaced with anxiety (any-exit), triggers, loneliness, people-pleasing, over-spending and over-indulgence. You may find yourself wanting to say no, but struggle to follow your instincts.

What if the key is not to “get-through” the holiday season, but to “get -from” and “create-from” your experiences? What if instead, we take this as our opportunity to kindly say no, establish new boundaries with love, and attend to our needs and well-being? My earliest mentor taught me that setting a boundary for myself, helps others. They just may not see it that way in the moment.

With awareness we can break free from the obligations that aren’t aligned with us anymore and reframe a happier, healthier holiday for ourselves and our loved ones.

If you are one of the lucky ones who blissfully float through December, you are in a great spot to help others.

Most people have a soft fragile spot just below the surface, and your kindness could mean the world to them, even by asking, “How are you really doing?”

It’s been said that a secret shared is cut in half. So if you feel safe, share what’s on your heart with someone you trust this holiday, and watch the tension break free. If you need someone to talk to, I gladly open up space for you. I’ve often felt the universe rewards the brave, so please ask if you need a friend in your corner.

What can you say yes to this holiday, that celebrates you at the center of its importance?
